• What type of fabrics do you wear? Cheap, synthetic fabrics may be the culprit of your sweating problem. Start wearing clothes made out of organic materials. Also, avoid tight clothes. Loose, flowing clothes will keep you from perspiring so much.
• Are you drinking enough water? You might think that drinking more water will cause you to sweat more, but it’ll actually cause you to sweat less! Your body has chemicals from food and medicine that must be flushed out. Drinking a lot of water will cause your body to eliminate the chemicals in ways other than sweating.
• Are you overweight? Just being ten pounds overweight can cause a lot of sweating. The more someone weighs, the more the body needs to sweat in order to keep cool.
• The nervous system itself could be the cause. Neurotransmitters are fired through the nerves. These chemicals include epinephrine, which is triggered by external reactions. When triggered, the chemicals fire out through the nerves and out to the endocrine system, releasing sweat. If you simply cannot avoid external reactions (anxiety, overactive thyroid glands, etc.) which trigger the chemicals in the nervous system, then you might want to talk to a doctor about treatments.
These are some of the most common causes of excessive sweating. If you don’t think any of these could be causing you to sweat, then perhaps it could be one of the following:
• Infection
• Menopause
• Diabetes
• Certain medications
• Narcotics
• Poor hygiene
If you’re still not sure of your excessive sweating cause, then don’t worry – there are still ways you can treat the problem. Even if you can’t treat the primary cause, you can still use antiperspirants, home remedies, acupuncture, etc… to control the sweating.
The best thing you can do is improve your overall health the best that you can. Take good care of yourself physically and emotionally and you will sweat less as a result. If you are taking any medications and suspect that they might be causing you to sweat so much, you should talk to a doctor.
