Are you often embarrassed over sweaty underarms, even when you use deodorant? Do you have problems with your self-esteem due to excessive perspiration? If so, then you might have a condition called axillary hyperhidrosis. This can be caused by medical conditions, diseases, emotional distress, and even side-effects of certain drugs. It can also be triggered by chemicals in food and drinks.
It’s not difficult to treat underarms sweat if you have an idea of what is causing it. Even if you don’t, you can still try home remedies and herbal remedies for sweating. You can modify your diet and lifestyle habits so that less sweat is triggered. You can also wear loose clothing made out of cotton or wool to prevent sweaty underarms and body odor.
It’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor, especially if you suspect the problem might be caused by a medical condition. Treating the condition appropriately will lead to less sweating. If you suspect that the problem might be caused by antibiotics or medications, you SHOULD NOT stop taking them! Talk to your doctor and ask if there are any other medicines you can try. If not, then use one of the following home remedies to help control the sweaty underarms. Just don’t stop taking medication – especially if it’s for a serious medical condition.
Here are a few home remedies for preventing and controlling sweaty underarms:
- You can try applying apple cider vinegar to your underarm area to prevent sweating. It also helps keep the body odor associated with sweating at bay.
- Take a bath and wash under your arms every single day. Even if you’re a guy, you should shave or trim the area. This is because a bacterium accumulates in the hair, contributing to sweat and pungent odor.
- While bathing, add some tomato juice to the water. Sit and soak for about twenty minutes. You can also drink tomato juice to stop sweating naturally.
- Eat healthy foods that contain a lot of soy, fiber, and potassium. Avoid spicy foods, especially garlic and onions. They will only make the problem worse.
- Make a homemade body powder. For the base, you can use ingredients such as sage, white clay, cornstarch, baking soda, and lime. For the fragrance, you can use essential oils. Sandalwood is a good choice for men, and lavender is a good choice for women.
- Speaking of fragrances, aromatherapy is a great way to deal with hyperhidrosis. This is because perspiration is often triggered by stress or anxiety. Aromatherapy is a great way to deal with emotional distress. Carry a few bottles around of essential oil and take a whiff whenever you feel an anxiety attack coming on.
- Believe it or not, vinegar can help prevent sweating. Mix 3 or 4 ounces of red vinegar with 30 drops of any essential oil, and pour the mixture into a container. Keep the container shut, airtight, for about a week. Shake it every single day, letting the essential oil seep into the red vinegar. After a week, you can pour a small amount into the bathwater. There should be enough for 6 – 12 baths.
- Make sure you get plenty of sleep every night. You’ll be surprised at how much you can prevent excessive sweating just by getting a good night’s rest. The sweat glands aren’t active when the body is lying flat, so the more sleep you get, the less you will sweat!
Choose at least three of these guidelines and stick with them! You will be able to prevent sweaty underarms and feel better about yourself!
