Have you tried every deodorant or antiperspirant you could get your hands on, in hopes of preventing excessive armpit sweating? Does it seem as if you can’t prevent the sweating, no matter how hard you try? Axillary hyperhidrosis is a problem that millions of people around the world face. And for many of those millions, it really is a difficult problem to treat.

What if I told you that it doesn’t have to be difficult for you? What if I told you that you can really prevent excessive armpit sweating?

First, you need to identify the underlying cause, if any.

Here are some of the common causes of axillary hyperhidrosis:

• A problem with the sympathetic nervous system

Overactive thyroid gland

• Excess weight

• Poor diet

• Alcohol abuse

• Medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes

• Side effects of drugs such as painkillers and hormonal medicine

• Stimulants such as coffee and energy drinks

• Anxiety and stress

Some of these are obviously easier to treat than others. Some causes, such as the medication, can’t be treated. Don’t ever stop taking medicine just to prevent sweating.

Fortunately, you can still take measures to prevent sweating, even when you can’t treat the underlying cause. For instance, you can cut down on spicy foods and drink tons of water. If you have extra body fat, you can lose it. You can stop drinking alcohol or caffeine.

Here are some helpful tips for dealing with excessive armpit sweating:

1. Get rid of excess waste and toxins in the body. Do a full body cleanse to get rid of bacteria and chemicals from drugs and unhealthy foods. You can do this by drinking more than 8 glasses of water a day. Replace caffeinated beverages with healthy drinks such as fruit smoothies, vegetable juice, apple cider vinegar, tomato juice, etc. Eat tons of fresh veggies and fruits. Cut down on red meat and eat plenty of lean meat.

2. Don’t take hot showers. They will dry out your skin and cause you to sweat more. Avoid excessive heat as much as possible. At the same time, you don’t want the water to be TOO cool, or your metabolism will increase just to keep your body warm. When metabolism is increased, sweat is produced. Shower or bathe in lukewarm water and make sure that the bathroom is well ventilated.

3. Avoid wearing clothes that are uncomfortable and tight. You might not think it will make much of a difference, but you’ll be surprised at how much more your body can breathe when wearing loose fitting clothes made out of cotton or wool. Also, you can get some undershirts specially made with sweat absorbent pads.

4. Stay stress free as much as you can. Nothing can trigger excessive armpit sweating as much as stress. Learn relaxation techniques and take some time to pamper yourself every day.

5. Kick any bad, unhealthy habits you might have: smoking, overeating, drinking, drug abuse, etc. All of these trigger excessive sweating! It might not be easy to kick these habits, but you will have to if you want to stop sweating so much.

6. Drink herbal tea every day. Some good herbal drinks for sweating problems include astragalus, nettle, oats, licorice root, and sage. You can also rub the tannic acid found in tea onto your armpits to help dry up the sweat.

You can prevent excessive armpit sweating once and for all if you strive for better health! Being in good health mentally and physically is the key to treating axillary hyperhidrosis.
