Medical Treatments and Alternative Treatments to Help You Cure Excessive Underarm Sweating

Wouldn’t it be nice to find a cure for excessive underarm sweating? More than seven million people in the US alone suffer from axillary hyperhidrosis. While everyone sweats, not everyone does excessively. If you suffer from this problem, then you know how hard it can be to hide sweaty armpits.

Despite the difficulty, it’s not impossible to cure excessive underarm sweating! There are products available to treat the problem. You can also try improving your overall lifestyle habits if you want to stop excessive perspiration. Stay away from foods, drinks, and drugs that trigger the sympathetic nervous system.

Medical Treatments

There are some medical treatments available. Their effectiveness varies from person to person. These include oral medications for anxiety, iontophoresis,BOTOX injections, prescription antiperspirants, and surgery. The surgery is only recommended for the most extreme cases, since it carries long-term side effects.

The iontophoresis treatments don’t even have to be performed in a clinical setting. You can buy your own machine or build it yourself. However, you shouldn’t attempt to send electrical currents into your body without the supervision of a medical professional.

Alternative Treatments

If you don’t want to undergo medical treatments just yet, here are some alternative treatments:

1. Make sure you’re hydrated at all times. Drink tons of water every single day. Eight glasses is the minimum. The water should be cool, but not icy cold. Ice cold beverages will cause your body to increase its internal temperature in order to stay warm. Likewise, avoid hot beverages. The water should be at around room temperature.

2. Wear loose-fitting, “breathable fabrics” such as cotton. Natural fabrics will keep your body comfortable by providing ventilation. Don’t wear polyester or nylon, since they will only trap the sweat. Trapped sweat causes bad body odor.

3. Baking soda and baby powder are simple, yet effective treatments for underarm sweating. After you apply an antiperspirant, sprinkle some on your armpits. The powder will help to absorb the sweat and prevent odor.

4. Start wearing super absorbent underarm pads. Some of them require no straps or maintenance. Just peel the backs off and stick them on your armpits. A good brand will stick securely all day long to prevent sweat from getting on your clothes. At the end of the day, just take them off and throw them away.

5. You can cure excessive underarm sweating through relaxation techniques. For some individuals, the slightest amount of anxiety or stress can trigger a lot of perspiration. Learn to control your breathing – take a deep breath, hold for four seconds, release and count to four, hold for another four seconds, and then start the process over. You can do this technique anywhere at any time.

6. Go for a swim before going to school or work. If you don’t have access to a pool, then soak in the bathtub for about thirty minutes. The water should be cool, but not icy cold. Immersing yourself in cool water for a half an hour will keep your internal body temperature down for two or three hours.

7. Drink either green tea or apple cider every day. Both of these will help cure excessive underarm sweating. They’ll help you relax so that your sweat glands won’t be stimulated.

Whether you want to try alternative treatments, medical treatments, or both, you should try to maintain good health. Eat well, drink plenty of water, and avoid drugs, nicotine, and alcohol.

If these treatments aren’t enough, there are plenty of others! This is just the beginning.
