Listed below are some obvious and not so obvious Sweat Prevention tips for your underarms, face, hands and foot sweating. Enjoy!
Drink Plenty of Water – Many people can’t understand this one. They think if they drink water, the body will sweat more to compensate. Wrong! Drinking lots of water will keep your body cool. By keeping a cool internal temperature, the overactive sweat glands have no reason to prespire. It’s important to drink 8 glasses of water a day. |
Try Shoe Inserts – When my foot sweating was bad, I used to love Odor Eaters. Although they didn’t prevent the foot sweating, they certainly prevented the odor that came along with it by absorbing the moisture. |
Vinegar Foot Baths – Mix half a cup of vinegar with 1 cup of water in a footbath and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Do this twice a week and you’ll see a HUGE improvement in your plantar hyperhidrosis. The acid in the vinegar is the magic ingredient. |
Wear Loose Fitting clothing – Breathable material will do wonders for your excessive sweating problem. Absorbent socks are great too. Invest in some good pairs. Wear open toe shoes whenever possible. Cottons work best for clothing. |
Powder your Parts – After bathing or showering, apply a baby powder or medical goldbond powder to your common sweating areas. This will prevent irritation and relieve the skin. Irritated skin is more likely to perspire and cause further irritability and rashes.Using powder will also cover up any body odor that may be associated with sweating. |
Change your Socks frequently – This will cut down on exposure to foot bacteria and really help out with the odor. Good hygiene never hurts too. Many stores like Gap make special “breathable” socks that wick away moisture using specially designed cotton. You can find comparable socks in many different chain stores. |
Apply Antiperspirant to your hands and feet – Be on the lookout for skin irritation when you do this. You can accidently give yourself a rash if you react poorly to the brand of choice. This can help though temporarily with palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis. |
Use Alternating Temperatures when you Shower – I like to start the shower warm and turn it to cold a minute or two before I get out. This is refreshing and will cool your body temperature in a very naturally and gradual way. I love it because it really wakes me up in the morning and gets me ready to start the day. There’s nothing more frustrating than getting sweaty right after you step out of the shower. When you end your shower with a cold blast of water, you’ll effectively cool yourself down and prevent overheating while dressing. |
Avoid Spicy Foods – I love chicken curry as much as the next guy, but I know better. Spicy foods encourage sweating and you’re going to have to bite the bullet and avoid these foods until you get your perspiration under control. So yes, you’re going to need to pass on the hot wings during football season. But hey, just think about how much more you’ll enjoy watching the Superbowl when you don’t have to pack three different changes of clothes. |
Wash Your Hands Frequently – I recommend washing your hands often using anti-bacterial soap. This may have a drying effect, but once your hand sweating stops, you can figure out a nice happy medium as to how often you should do this. |
Solving Your Sweating Problem…
Let’s go beyond these tips and get to the root of your problem. Excessive sweating is a systemic problem caused by internal triggers. The medical term for it is hyperhidrosis. The good news is you CAN end the perspiration for good but you NEED to know the exact steps to accomplish this. Here’s where this site comes in…
Apply Natural Treatments – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is no substitute for having a systematic game plan when you decide to end your excessive sweating. Try as many natural treatments as you can including a proper hyperhidrosis diet, sage tea soaks, baking soda & water solutions, tea tree oil, Thiamine (which combats stress), acupuncture, Alum, and witch hazel. I’ll be expanding on all of these solutions soon enough.

Amazing stuff here! I’m going to try the Vinegar foot baths you mentioned. The sage tea tans my feet a little too much. Keep the tips coming brother!
Hi Jason, I’m really frustrated right about now, things feel really hopeless, can you send more suggestions please?
Hi Denva, You got it! I’ve got LOADS more tips that I’ll be sending your way on how to stop excessive sweating. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I also have some very helpful product recommendations in the works. Still testing some of them out for you. Keep your head up!
I suffer from really bad facial sweating…simple embarrassment makes me sweat…it’s really upsetting. Can I get some prevention tips for this?
Thanks Paul. Yes, I’ll be sending you some great tips on how to stop excessive facial sweating VERY soon. Stay tuned.
Hi, i need some help for my best friend. What products can he use? He sweats a LOT under the arms.
Have him start with the basics. Drysol and Certain Dri should be the first step if other clinical strength deodorants aren’t working. Remember, Aluminum Chloride is the magic ingredient so aim for antiperspirants with high levels.
Hey Jason,
Just wanna ask you something… is Drysol available on drugstores?
Does it really work?
I’m hopeless, i wanted to get rid of this excessive sweating ASAP! It’s really embarrassing! I can no longer lift my arms up in public and seriously, it makes me feel bad everyday especially when doing any activities at school that requires a lot of movement. Can you please suggest some quick and fast remedies for this one?
Do you have any tips for the face? My face sweats more than anything and it’s so embarassing. Could I use the vinegar soak somehow on my face?
Hey Samiie,
Thanks for your post. Drysol IS available in most US drugstores. If you’re living outside the US, looking for an equivalent product called Driclor. Both products definitely work well with armpit sweating. They contain 20% aluminum chloride which really blocks the floodgates under your arms. Try either one out. They’re both readily available online. I’ve posted links where you can buy any of these recommended products through Amazon. You can check it out here:

As for other armpit sweating remedies, I’ll keep them coming in the weeks ahead. Take Care!
Hi Jason,
Do you have any tips on head sweat? I’m getting married the 25th of this month and my head sweats so bad. I don’t want my hair looking gross and wet for my pictures! My head is my only problem, i don’t sweat so bad anywhere else. some information would be amazing!
thank you so much!
Hi Jason – same as Paul’s note in June – I suffer from heavy facial sweating. It started around 5 yrs ago and seems to be getting worse.
I’ve tried all the NLP stuff but nothing seems to last.
Can you suggest anything?
Hi Jason,
I have a huge facial sweating problem. I even quit my job because I couldn’t stand it anymore rushing out of important meetings with clients. You say that drinking water is essential but how come every time I drink I sweat profusely…?
I live in Bulgaria and can’t use US products. For my armpits I am using a spray called ODOREX which decreases my armpit sweating drastically.
Regards
Daniel
Hi Jason,
I just wanted to say that unfortunately the sage tea bags really don’t help for me and Certain Dri helps only a little. Are there any pills you can take to prevent sweating? And is drysol sold in stores?
Yes. You can try taking Robinul for Hyperhidrosis (also called “Glycopyrrolate”). Learn more about this drug alternative here: http://www.prevent-sweating.com/Robinul–for–Hyperhidrosis/Robinul–for–Hyperhidrosis.html
Best of Luck!
As I mentioned earlier. Try the basics, illustrated from this blog post: http://www.prevent-sweating.com/blog/3-easy-ways-to-stop-facial-sweating
If those don’t work, we can talk about other options
Sorry, this reply is coming in late. Better late than never though. Make sure you check out this blog post to learn some facial sweating tactics: http://www.prevent-sweating.com/blog/3-easy-ways-to-stop-facial-sweating
hi Jason
I live in hot climatic conditions. My problem is, when I am outside and moving(at room temp), I seem okay. but when I get into office atmosphere with the airconditionong some how my feet sole start to sweat due to cold temperature (Even if I wear sandals). With poor air ventilation/movement indoors, constantly sitting in one place & this sweating makes life realy bad…& the odour builds.
I felt it kinda strange….generally ppl complain of sweat due to heat and lack of airy footwear. What is your kind opinion?
thanks

Sounds like a strange scenario. Have you tried applying Goldbond’s powder to the soles of your feet and inbetween your toes? Even if the sweating isn’t temperature induced, the powder will give you some dry time by absorbing the wetness. Try it out and let me know if that helps.
If you have sensitive skin or razor irritation, stay away from Drysol and Certain Dri. You’ll end with pain and a lot of skin irritation, which will lead to more sweating or seepage and underarm odor. I wipe with white vinegar, blow dry, then use Michum mens, blowdry, then add powder, then attach an underarm shield (Kleinert) to by garment before wearing. This is the only way I can control the wetness and the odor
half a cup of vinegar and One cup of water doesn’t seem deep enough to soak your feet have I got the right amount right
I have a lady friend who suffers grossly from sweating. Not under her arms, or facial or hands and feet; BUT FULL BODY SWEAT BACK AND FRONT EVERYTIME SHE GOES WALKING. Please can you suggest any help for this Lady, who is my best friend. Thank you.

hey jason,
nothing seems to b improving my condition.. temme more plz.. i am juz 19yrs i gotta spend rest of my life but not this way though!~
Thanks, Jason. I think I may have to try getting that Rubinol and see if it makes any difference. I am currently using prescription antiperspirant to deal with sweaty armpits, along with Secret Clinical Strength and it REALLY does the trick! Unfortunately, it only works for the armpits. I tried using it on my legs once and they were burning for about 20 minutes. The humid season here in Kobe will arrive in about a month and a half and I am a bit concerned. My whole body drips in sweat. It can’t evaporate because of all the moisture in the air. If that drug works, I will feel LIBERATED this Summer! Are there any long term side effects with Rubinol?
I have dealed with sweating as long as I can remeber on my hands and feet. It is really embarressing when I high five or shake hands with someone. They’re like eww, your hands are wet. And at school my hands start to sweat and my paper gets wet and the pencil starts to slip out of my hand. I am frequently having to wipe my hands on my shirt and pants or wash them. I will get so frustrated at home I will somtimes start to cry. I feel like I have been cursed. Soaking my hands and feet in viniger help a little and putting on certain dry on them at night will help a little to. I hate suffering from this. I’d give almost anything to make it go away.
Hi Jason. I was wondering, do you have any tips how to stop excessive hand sweating? It’s been bothering me for years and i’d like to get rid of it. Thanks.
Hi, Thanks a lot for all the above tips, however I would be grateful if you could send more tips using natural products/oils to prevent suffering for hand and foot sweating. my feet either have cold sweat or a burning hot sweat which in turn make my feet to swell and causes lots of discomfort and blisters . please help me to over come this problem. many thanks.

Hello,
I am going to see my Doctor next week, but in the meantimne I have found that Tomatoe Juice has worked a little bit for my facial sweating. Have you heard of this before? I am about to scream and can’t take too much more also thinking about getting Botex—-any other suggestions?

Gracias Jason.

Hello-
I suffered from sweaty palms and feet my entire life, or for as long as I can remember. In grade school I had the hard time holding my pencil in class so my father made a doo-hicky made of terry cloth glued to my pencil:-) At the age of 32 I had the “surgery” in Dallas, TX. my insurance covered the procedure! Since the surgery (cutting a gland in my chest, one on each side). Since the surgery my palms have been dry as a bone!!! My feet still sweats just not as much. all of my family and friends disagreed with my decission to have the surgery but in the end it was totally in decision. Now I get to live the rest of my life with dry palms. A year after I met an old man (75 years old) with a wahscloth between his hands and his walking cane. I asked him why does he have the washcloth? He answered he has the condition hyperhidrosis, sweaty palms. this condition will not go away with diet, powders, solutions etc. You will have this condition for life. I’m so thankful to the doctor. If you are considering having the surgery search for a thorsic surgeon.
oh, I considered Botox, this option was very expensive and it was not a cure. I also tried Drysol, this was a temp fix.
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your help to thousands all across the globe. I tried Driclor on my armpits and it worked wonders! I DON’T sweat there anymore. On my feet, the vinegar bath reduced the sweating by 75% and it improves by the day. However, I tried using ODABAN from the UK but got results for a short time. Facial sweating seems a hard nut to crack but I can’t give up just yet. To everyone out there, don’t despair you are not alone.
Please Jason, start a worldwide organization for people who sweat excessively to share, meet and exchange ideas with one another.
Cheers!
I started taking antidepressants about 14 years ago, that was when excessive head sweating started. I’ve changed medications several times over the years but the head sweating just seems to be getting worse. I’m so tired of this embarrassing condition and I feel truly desperate for a cure. Any advice someone could offer would be so greatly appreciated.
Jason,
I have a big problem with sweating under my armpits. I have tried putting vinegar on them at night as well as the Drisol, but those didn’t seem to work. I was wondering if there is a way to permanently eliminate the sweating? I’m about to graduate high school and I really don’t want to bring this problem with me to college.
Thanks,
Erin
hey!
This is like a lot of information and it works too.
I want to know how can I stop armpit sweating??
Hey Jason,
I was looking into purchasing the “The Sweaty Palms Program” off the web. It’s one of those guides that promises to cure sweaty palms in three simple steps. After reading what you wrote, I’ve decided against; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That being said, I can’t help but wonder what his three steps are. Did you read this book and is there any value it what it says?
I am Eara,I have a big problem with sweating under my armpits, I want to buy Drysol and Certain Dri but I am from the Philippines..so where I can buy this stuff?hope to hear you soon..tnx
Hi Jason
I suffer a lot from hand and feet sweating. Also what is very weird, is that normally both my feet and hands are extremely cold when the excessive sweating starts (not in all cases, but most) and the rest of my body is warm. Could this be a blood circulation problem?
Regards
Kirsten
All of the products I mention are available internationally through Amazon.com. You’ll see a list of them available through Amazon here ===> http://www.prevent-sweating.com/blog/sweat-stopping-product-recommendations
i would also recommend iontophoresis, this is a common working sloution for excessive sweating, bathing in vinegar has not helped me, but with ionto i get my feet dry .. luckily
